Not a lot to share today - just 5 hours driving from CFalls to GFalls. Montana is SUCH a beautiful state! 250 miles today. I chose the southerly route which as about 45 minutes longer to avoid mountains in a 40,000lb RV with a Jeep in tow.
This state is unbelievable. You can be in the mountains at noon and foothills by 3pm.
Some fun facts:
Geography & Size
Montana is the fourth-largest state in the U.S., covering about 147,000 square miles—larger than Germany.
Known as “Big Sky Country,” it has more shoreline on lakes than California, despite being landlocked.
The state contains parts of both the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains.
Population & Density
Despite its size, Montana’s population is under 1.2 million, making it one of the least densely populated states.
There are more cattle than people—roughly 2.5 cattle for every resident.
Wildlife & Nature
Montana has one of the largest grizzly bear populations in the lower 48 states.
It is home to Glacier National Park, part of the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, with 25 remaining glaciers (down from 150 a century ago).
The state has the largest migratory elk herd in the nation.
History & Culture
The name “Montana” comes from the Spanish word montaña, meaning “mountain.”
It was the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn (Custer’s Last Stand) in 1876.
Montana has no sales tax, though some localities charge small resort or lodging taxes.
Interesting Records
Loma, Montana, holds the U.S. record for the greatest temperature change in 24 hours: from -54°F to 49°F in January 1972 (a 103°F swing).
The world’s shortest river, the Roe River, is in Great Falls—flowing only about 200 feet from Giant Springs to the Missouri River.
Winter is no joke!
Put it on y our list!
